Weiner: A Review

WeinerDirected By: Josh Kriegman, Elyse Steinberg
Starring: Anthony Weiner, Huma Abadein
Status: Released

Okay I know what you are thinking “Oh a documentary about Anthony Weiner, hasn’t that guy got enough screen time?”

For those who aren’t up to speed, here is a quick refresher: Anthony Weiner is a former U.S. politician who was caught in a huge sexting scandal in which he went under the name of Carlos Danger. His political career at that point was thought to have been over.

Now we come to 2015, the race for who will replace Michael Bloomberg is in full swing and Anthony Weiner attempted a comeback of sorts by entering his name. If you follow the news you know the outcome most likely and Huma Abedein who would later be known as Hillary Rodham Clinton’s right-hand woman during her presidential campaign is in this film as well throwing her full support behind her then-husband’s amazing yet unsuccessful bid to become mayor of the greatest city in the world.

If you like movies that give you unfiltered access to stuff you wouldn’t normally see, then put this on your bucket list of must watch films.

Anthony Weiner, love him or hate him is a dynamic showman and you get to see him and his staff from every angle of the campaign from start to finish the film is beautifully laid out and edited with footage, cut scenes and the directors took great care not to stray too far from the bulk subject matter of the movie.

Just a footnote: this is not something you should see with little ones in the room due to coarse language and some sexual content.

My Rating: 5/5 Stars
