Grumpier Old Men: A Review

GrumpierOldMenDirected By: Howard Deutch
Starring: Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Sophia Loren
Status: Released

As the season changes from Winter to summer in Wabasha Minnesota, the wisecracks and zingers haven’t really stopped. Grabbing Fishing rods and picking up where they left off, next door neighbours Max Goldman and John Gustafson (Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon Respectively) continue the seasonal migration of practical jokes and zingers that made the first film such a success. Sophia Loren is the newcomer and Ann-Margret & Burgess Meredith are back reprising their roles and get set for a brand new set of outtakes  including Man Sized Manicotti.

Full disclosure: I’m not usually an endorser of sequels, but this is that rare exception to the rule. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are absolutely wonderful again as two guys who love to show that age doesn’t matter when it comes to getting even and Sophia Loren is absolutely terrific as Max Goldman’s potential love interest and I absolutely love Burgess Meredith as Grandpa Gustafson because he is an actor who has versatility and it shows. Definitely put this on your watch list
