Home Alone 2: Lost In New York – A Review

HomeAlone2LINYDirected By: Chris Columbus
Starring: Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern
Status: Released

The adventures of everyone’s favourite Pint sized hero continue in a new film once again helmed by Chris Columbus based on a story by John Hughes (the Breakfast Club).

Kevin MacCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is alone again, this time in New York City, with enough cash and credit to turn Central Park into his own private playground. But He once again has company to contend with, the Notorious Wet Bandits Harry & Marv (Joe Pesci & Daniel Stern) still licking their wounds from their last encounter with Kevin are bound for the Big Apple too after escaping from Jail plotting a huge holiday heist at a local toy store. Kevin is ready once again to welcome them with a new arsenal of booby traps the burglars will never forget.

Like I previously stated in my review of Grumpier Old Men, I am not usually an endorser of sequels but this is one of a select bunch on my list that I actually enjoyed. It still maintains the comedic feel of the original without coming across as an exact copy. Many of the supporting cast have returned as well including Catherine O’Hara & John Heard as Kevin’s parents and even introduces some new characters including The Concierge (executed brilliantly by Tim Curry) and the pigeon lady of Central Park in place of Old Man Marley from the original film. Definitely worth a watch

My Rating: 5/5 Stars
