Patch Adams: A Review

PatchAdamsDirected By: Tom Shadyac
Starring: Robin Williams
Status: Released

Robin Williams uncanny ability to improvise is on display in full force in this film directed by Tom Shadyac (The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar) adapted from the novel written  by the real Patch Adams.

Dr. Hunter “Patch” Adams (Robin Williams) does not think or act like any doctor you have known before. For Patch, humour is the best medicine and he will do anything to make his patients laugh even if it means risking his own career as a doctor. His antics garner the ire of the Medical Review board which threatens to shut down the Gesundheit Institute unless he starts practicing real medicine, a demand Patch is never prepared to meet.

Filled with gags that are well timed and the improvised comedy Robin Williams was rightfully famous for, this film is a must see for anyone in the mood for a hearty laugh and let me be the first to tell you this film WILL make you laugh almost to the point where you will not be able to contain yourself. Robin Williams was an International treasure for that very reason.
