Chariots Of Fire: A Review

chariotsoffireDirected By: Hugh Hudson
Starring: Ben Cross, Ian Charleson
Status: Released

Hugh hudson knocks it out of the park in this British historical drama based on the true story of two athletes, Eric Lidell a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of god and Harold Abrahams an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice. It documents their preparation and eventual competition in the 1924 Olympic Games.

This is one of the greatest sports stories ever told, it was nominated for 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. It is Ranked #19 on the BFI’s list of the Top 100 British Films of all time. And the two leads do such a great job re-enacting the events of this story that you will stand up and cheer for every moment. Add to that a Phenomenal soundtrack composed by Greek Composer Vangelis including the hit theme tune and you’ve got one great package of a film. It has even inspired spoofs on certain TV shows 😉 Must see.
